Venice off the beaten path

What can be written about the magical Italian City that has'nt been written before. I ripped up the guidebook several years ago and just wonder and see where my feet and Prosecco take me. It's worth avoiding the usual places such as St Marks square at certain times as it is overun with day trippers from the cruise ships. This trip we spent most of time in the quieter districts Cannaregio, Dorsoduro and Castello (where I was staying for the week). Venice is only an hour and half away from Lake Garda which we visited for a day to walk by the lake.
